Core Issue
The new installation of Cisco Unity fails, and an error message suggests to call Cisco Technical Support. The error message reads:
Setup was unable to configure default settings on your system. Contact TAC.
Resolution
In SQL, verify that the BUILTIN\Administrators group has the Database Creators role checked:
- Run the SQL Enterprise Manager.
- Expand the tree in the left pane until you reach Security > Logins.
- Right-click BUILTIN\Administrators, and choose Properties.
- Choose the Server Roles tab.
- Check Database Creators if it is not already checked.
- Click OK.
- Confirm that the UnityInstall a/c is in the administrators group in the Active Directory (AD).
- Review the OSQLDump and tempu.log files.
If the Msg 911, Level 16, State 1, Server , Line 20 Could not locate entry in sysdatabases for database 'UnityDB'. No entry found with that name. Make sure that the name is entered correctly message appears:
- Run ConfigMgr.exe, which is located in the commserver directory.
- After the initial prompt, choose advanced and check run database configuration script. This runs the C:\CommServer\Localize\DefaultConfiguration\ENU\DefaultDatabase.sql file.
- Uninstall SQL, and reboot. Install SQL again through the Cisco Unity System Preparation Assistant (CUSPA), and attempt to install Cisco Unity again, but in the C directory instead of D.
- If the install still fails, run this script on ConfigMgr:
C:\CommServer\Localize\DefaultConfiguration\ENU\UnityDbEx.sql
This installs the stored procedure.
- If the installation still fails, open a case with Cisco Technical Support with the TAC Service Request Tool. Include the latest tempu.log and the last Osqldump files.
