Core Issue
Microsoft Exchange dictates the storage limits for subscriber mailboxes, not Cisco Unity.
Resolution
Complete these steps to change the Exchange mailbox capacity for all users:
- On the Cisco Unity server, select Start > Programs > Microsoft Exchange > System Manager.
- Expand the servers group.
- Expand your Unity server.
- Expand first storage group.
- Right-click on mailbox store and select Properties.
- Click the Limits tab and set a value for these fields:
- Issue warning at (KB)
- Prohibit send at (KB)
- Prohibit send and receive at (KB)
- Click OK to save the changes.
Complete these steps to change the mailbox capacity for specific users:
- On the Cisco Unity server, select Start > Programs > Microsoft Exchange > Active Directory Users and Computers.
- Expand the domain and click the users folder to display a list of users.
- Right-click on the user for which you want to change the mailbox size and select Properties.
- Go to the Exchange General tab and click Storage Limits.
- Uncheck Use mailbox store defaults and set a value for these fields:
- Issue warning at (KB)
- Prohibit send at (KB)
- Prohibit send and receive at (KB)
- Click OK to save the changes.
Note: The value you specify for Issue warning at (KB) should be less than the value you specify for Prohibit send at (KB). The value you specify for Prohibit send and receive at (KB) should be greater than the value you specify for Prohibit send at (KB).
Example:
- Issue warning at (KB): 2500
- Prohibit send at (KB): 5000
- Prohibit send and receive at (KB): 7500
Note: There are three storage limits in Exchange. The Cisco Unity phone conversation only warns subscribers when they have reached each one.
