I am trying to enable the root user on TC4, but I can't get it to work.
I've tried the commands systemtools rootsettings on and systemtools rootsettings on mypassword, also rebooted after enabling but it's still not enabled.

What am I missing here?

systemtools rootsettings ?
usage: rootsettings [on/serial/off/never/get]

Command to control root user availability:
Note that root user's password is always empty!
  get               obtain current setting
off               root user is not available
never             root user permanently turned off
serial  root user is available on serial port only
on      root user is available on all ports.

Hi Rachid,

do you know if someone have ever used:
1systemtools rootsettings never

If that is the case, then I think it's impossible to set it back to on without returning the codec. Otherwise, I'll need to do some digging to find out what could be blocking this setting.

Hi Rachid,

If you set the root user to never, you must factory reset your unit to be able to enable the root user again. This can be done with the command: xCommand SystemUnit FactoryReset Confirm: Yes

Best regards
Roger

The FactoryReset indeed helped.
I cannot remember executing the command systemtools rootsettings never (I read about the impact before).
Perhaps one of my collegues did it this. Or I mistyped.
Is there a way to tell if this command has been executed btw?
Would be handy for remote systems.

Rachid,
typing "systemtools rootsettings get" will show the status of the setting.

Cheers,
David
