Subject: RE: Unlock Cisco 7912

I believe that the current intended behaviour is that phones will not allow XSI apps to unlock local settings, due to security considerations (XSI HTTP communication is insecure.)  Ideally this would be consistent across all models, but this is a change in previous behaviour, which may appear only in the latest loads, with some older phones being past software maintenance.

Dear All,

I am pushing programmatically **# to cisco IP Phone 7912 to unlock its network configurations menu, but it's not making any actions and i recieve no errors, although same code works with cisco IP Phone 7911 & 7940 & higher .

Any help?
Best Regards,
Marwa

David,
Can you see if, instead of blocking this access, the phones might be made to support HTTPS, or at least allow customers to decide if they want to take the risk and allow XSI to the phones?  There are very important issues with customers who need to change settings like ethernet negotiation, alt TFTP which can only currently be done from the phone itself (unless that is being changed too).
