Core Issue
This problem is most likely caused by a known issue with an Outlook Express component with Internet Explorer when using Real-Time Monitoring Tool (RTMT). This problem is introduced with the 2000-2-7 base install OS image, and it is not resolved by subsequent 2000-2-7 SR patches.
This problem is documented in Cisco bug ID CSCeg88885.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, re-install Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1(win-K9-ReinstallIE6sp1.exe).
This patch is available at CallManager & Voice Apps Crypto Software.
This patch re-installs the Outlook Express component necessary for the RTMT to successfully send Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) alerts.
Note: Read the win-K9-ReinstallIE6sp1-readme.htm (available in the document) prior to installing win-K9-ReinstallIE6sp1.exe.
To re-install IE6 SP1 on the server, perform these steps:
- Download the file to a location you can remember.
- Double-click the executable.
- You may be prompted by the message Outlook Express 6 SP1 has already installed (Do you want to reinstall it[Y,N]?). Type N to quit the install.
- Select I accept the agreement and click Next on the welcome window.
- Click Next on the Windows 2000/Windows XP install window.
- Click Finish when you are finished. The server reboots automatically.
Verify that Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 is installed.
To confirm that Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 is installed on the server, perform these steps:
- Click Start. Cisco then installs logs.
- Open the history.log. Information on how to re-install IE6 SP1 should be shown on the last line.
