What is BE6K ?
BE6K (Business Edition 6000) solution is a commercial package for business with up to 1,000 employees. BE6K package combines Cisco UC applications/software licenses (CallManager, IM/Presence, Contact Center, Video, etc.) with BE6K hardware servers.
BE6K software bundles (starter bundles) are great offerings for new customers to start with Cisco UC in a cost effective way.
BE6K hardware servers are specific Cisco UCS server configs tested/verified to run Cisco UC applications that come with embedded VMWARE to run Cisco UC Applications and offer easy-of-deployment features (preinstalled core apps, etc.)
Due to above benefits, BE6K is the most common deployment option for Cisco UC covering companies from 30 to 1000 users and has seen great success in the market.
Ok, but what are the other deployment options for Cisco UC?
If you don't go for BE6K model, then other deployment options are:
a) BE7K model (for companies with >1000 users)
This model is based on running Cisco UC apps on specific Cisco UCS servers called BE7K servers and is targeted for organizations with more than 1000 users.
BE7K servers like BE6K servers come with preinstalled VMWARE ESXi to run Cisco UC applications.
b) Specs-based model (run Cisco UC on your own server configs)
You can also run Cisco UC applications on other Cisco or 3rd-party servers that run VMWARE ESXi provided you satify certain requirements (cpu type and speed, vCPUs/mem/hdd requirements, vCenter,etc.).
Ok, give me some common BE6K customer scenarios
In slides 19-24 of attached presentation you will find most common (in my opinion) customer scenarios (cases with 1 or 2 servers, cases with or without Video MCU, video only cases).
Also attached presentation includes:
- a high-level overview of BE6K solution
- summary of collab services options that could run on BE6K servers
- summary of BE6K hardware servers options
- BE6k software starter bundles
