The folks in the BU roll out a new version of *SOMETHING* in webex, which breaks integrations. Of course, it's not done so you can easily figure it out. Stuff just breaks.
So today, my Meet Now button in outlook quit working and takes me to a web page that tells me they did an upgrade (big surprise) and I now must reinstall productivity tools for some reason.
So, I download it and go to install it. The installer hangs and says it can't find something or something is in use. Multiple retries don't help. Eventually you hit cancel and you're presented with Error 2755, which tells you absolutely nothing.
Googling for this error gives some hints, but none apply, and I still have the problem. Doing some debugging using the logging features of msiexec.exe, I find some errors where it can't find some file. No kidding. The file isn't there. But many of the posts I've seen have been around permissions.
Diagnosis
Plugin doesn't work, and no help documents exist. Error message is cryptic, so your recourse is Cisco TAC.
Solution
I didn't want to have to open a case, so I tried a few options. This is what ultimately worked:
On a whim, I launch a command prompt with administrative privileges, and navigate to my downloads folder. I execute the MSI from the command line (with the administrative privileges now), and BAM....it works.
Not sure why this isn't documented given the number of times I've run into this with Webex, Teams, etc., but thought I'd put this out there. Maybe now the search engine will pick it up and save some other souls some time they don't have to waste.
