Measuring and Optimizing Network Power Consumption with Crosswork Data Gateway (CDG), NSO, and Open-source Tools

Abstract:
We are showing how to utilize Crosswork Data Gateway (CDG) and open-source tools to provide insights into various sustainability metrics of network devices such as energy consumption, related CO2 emissions or performance per watt. We investigate underutilized devices and power supplies and will look into using NSO to implement power savings such as identifying and shutting down unused line card slices on ASR 9000 routers.
