Automated Active Assurance on Transport Networks

Automation Developer Days US, Dec 6, 2023

Abstract:
In service assurance, assessing whether a service is functioning as expected often involves sending synthetic data samples and measuring end-to-end performance factors such as delay, delay variation, and loss. This is typically achieved using protocols like TWAMP. When implementing automated service provisioning, it's beneficial to simultaneously set up these TWAMP sessions and collect statistics to monitor service quality. Usually, separate systems are used for service provisioning and TWAMP sessions, requiring a two-step process. However, with the release of the Crosswork Network Controller 6.0, these processes have been automated and integrated with the Accedian Skylight active assurance system. This allows for the automatic creation of TWAMP sessions based on a provisioned L3VPN service and automated collection of TWAMP statistics for service health calculation. In this session, we will explore the capabilities of the CNC and Accedian active assurance integration and discuss various deployment use cases.
