Can N9K-C9336C be a spine switch in NX-OS mode?

I am reviewing bill of material for a Data-Center networking from a senior engineer wherein N9K-C9336C-FX2 is considered as spine for NX-OS mode deployment, however my understanding is that N9K-C9336C-FX2 is a leaf switch so looking for opinion here, can N9K-C9336C be a spine switch in NX-OS mode?

In NX-OS mode, anything can be a spine.. literally anything doesn't even have to be a cisco device.  As long as it's not locked into running ACI only then it's not a problem (and there's only a few models that are, and this isn't one of them).
