Migration FEX from active/active to straight through mode

Hi all,

We have to migrate 4 FEX 2248 connected to 2 Nexus 7k in active/active mode with VPC. (working ok) to

2 by 2 FEX to each Nexus 7k in straight trough mode.

The idea is to reconfigure VPC to PC that will be present only one one switch.

The plan is to disconnect FEX from one of the extenders and shut down the interface port channel, on second nexus we will reconfiguration with "no vpc" on port channel interface and add additional interface to that port channel . the question is: Will this reconfiguration affect traffic to the host connected on that FEX?

Hi,

I suggest you to change the interface connected to fex to be shut and from vpc to non-vpc mode on both side, this will flap the fex link, it will go offline and come online again after doing that.

hi, thanks on reply.

We finished activity successfully last night.

Basically we did what you suggest.

Unfortunately it seems it is not possible to switch it without outage, because when you delete vpc all configuration for the FEX is deleted from Nexus.

that's right it's because of thee internal asic binding change.
