I have a really old WS-4507R-E that is throwing a constant stream of errors(%C4K_CHASSIS-3-MUXBUFFERREADSUPERVISORSELECTIONFAILED: Failed to read linecard 1 muxbuffer supervisor selection register). According to the Cisco system message guide, the chassis and supervisor engine module need to be replaced and the WS-C4507R+E is the recommended replacement product part.
The old WS-4507R-E has 4x WS-X4548-GB-RJ45 line cards which show as supported line cards for the new WS-C4507R+E so I am thinking I can purchase the new WS-C4507R+E chassis and then re-use the old line cards from the current chassis and then I would just need to purchase 2x supervisors, 2x power supplies, and a fan tray. I've only configured and never purchased network hardware before so wanted to run a sanity check past the community to see if my thought process makes sense and what additional insights or considerations you may be able to share. I'm also not sure what the best place to purchase this equipment from would be either or maybe vendors I should avoid when getting quotes?
