Nexus 5624Q - PoaP and breakouts

Does PoaP on the 5600 series switches support/correctly handle applying breakouts as part of the configuration replay process? I need to break out a bunch of interfaces on both modules and then apply access vlans/STP config on them but I'm not sure if the switch handles the powering on/off of the modules in order to get the breakout interfaces to a configurable state.

I don't think POAP handles the powering on/off the modules since we the config with the breakout included will be applied only once.

My understand is below for the POAP process

  • Switch starts POAP
  • It intiates DHCP IP assignment
  • Then it gets the scripts file from the server
  • Reloads
  • applies the scheduled config (with breakout) and completes the auto provisioning.

Unless the switch goes through a 2nd reload, the breakout will not be effective.

If you happen to see it differently then please update the thread.
