Hello,
we've got in our backup datacenter some FEX2348, and I have to move one single-homed FEX to another Nexus (the 2 Nexus are connected via vpc)
I don't want to loose the interface-config and the I have no downtime.
the fex is configured very simple:
interface Ethernet1/42 description FEX 114 switchport mode fex-fabric fex associate 114 no shutdown
so I think about adding a port-channel config (do I need a vpc-config?), then the same on the target-Nexus, connecting the fex with the target-nexus, configuring the fex-interfaces on the target-nexus and last disconnecting the fex from the current nexus.
could this work without downtime for the servers connected to the fex.
I know, dual-homed would be better, but now the situation is as it is.
thanks for any advice.

I just came accross the possibility of pre-provisioning the fex, but maybe there are 2 ways:
- either with command: "fex 199" and then "hardware N2348UPQ" or
- command: "slot 199" and then "provision model N2K-C2348UPQ"
could you tell me about the difference between this 2 methods?

The way to provision it is through Slot X configuration.
The FEX X, that is not provisioning the fex, it only configures it.
Cheers,
Sergiu
