Hi Folks,

In our data center design, We implemented a new VRF design to segregate the traffic and increase the capacity for specific traffic. So we have configured the 3 sub-interface. Ex Eth 1/49.234 Eth 1/50.234 Eth 1/52.234. We would like to know the counters for the sub-interface as to the below output for the physical interface.

  • #sh int eth 1/49 counter
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Port InOctets InUcastPkts
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Eth1/49 1984964821585 15921418838
  • ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Port InMcastPkts InBcastPkts
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Eth1/49 466824 272

When I tried to see on sub inter counter, it shows o values even data is flowing.

  • sh int eth 1/52.456 counters
  • ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Port InOctets InUcastPkts
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Eth1/52.456 0 0
  • ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Port InMcastPkts InBcastPkts
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Eth1/52.456 0 0

  • sh int eth 1/52.456
    Ethernet1/52.456 is up
admin state is up, Dedicated Interface, [parent interface is Ethernet1/52]
    Hardware: 1000/10000/25000/40000/50000/100000 Ethernet, address: 3890.a5fa.cea1 (bia 3890.a5fa.ce

Hi @pri5605527206 ,

Per the config guide this is a limitation in the Nexus 9k platform, sub-interfaces do not have statistics support.

Limitations for Subinterfaces

The following are the limitations for subinterfaces:

  • Statistics for subinterfaces are not supported.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/datacenter/nexus9000/sw/7-x/interfaces/configuration/guide/b_Cisco_Nexus_9000_Series_NX-OS_Interfaces_Configuration_Guide_7x/b_Cisco_Nexus_9000_Series_NX-OS_Interfaces_Configuration_Guide_7x_chapter_0101...

Hope this helps!
