Hi
We have setup some servers with 4 10gb Ethernet cards all running FCoE.
Two 10gb NICs are configured in a port channel for production VMs and two in a second portchannel for non production VMs.
We have Vmotion,Vmware FT and VEM L3 ctrl running on the production uplink.
There are separate VLANs for production and non production VM traffic.
In VCenter teh production uplinks look fine but the non production ones show as connected but gray which usually indicates a non forwarding NIC.
The weird thing is that they are forwarding as a non production VM has network connectivity and the VLAN it is on is only uplinked via the VEM and the non prod uplink.
This is ESXI 5 and 1000v 1.5 btw.
Is this a cosmetic bug in VCentre or is there some more logical reason for the gray indicator colour on the second uplink port channel ?
Thanks
Pat

Even stranger they show as green if you look at them via the VMware gui on that aprticular ESXi host. its only via Vcenter that they show as not forwarding ....

Weird. The VMware guys reinstaleld Vcentre as part of the ongoing testing and once we reconnected the VSM to teh new Vcenter this issue went away. No changes on the 1000v at all (bar changing the Ventre name). Must have been some stuck opaque data on Vcentre. Hey ho.
