Upgrade first - vCenter or 1000v?

I've got a 1000v environment on 1.4(a) and vSphere 4.1. Currently there are DVS across Dev and 2 prod environments. I'd like to be able to upgrade the vCenter to 5.1 before upgrading the 1000v's, however the compatibility doc for 1.4(a) doesn't mention vCenter compatibility. The 1.5.2 doc says it is compatible with vCenter 4.1 and later, meaning I'd have to upgrade all 3 switches before vCenter. Does anyone out there know if 1.4(a) will function under vCenter 5.1?

Thanks,

John

No, 1.4a will not run under vCenter 5.1, according to the release notes of it here:
