Hello!

The current recommended NX-OS software release for the Nexus 3524 and 3548 is NX-OS 7.0(3)I7(8). As such, you'll need to reference the Cisco Nexus 3000 Series NX-OS Release Notes for Release 7.0(3)I7(8) document to find the upgrade path. Specifically, the "Upgrading Cisco Nexus 3500 Series Switches" section of this document contains the upgrade path needed for the Nexus 3524 and 3548 devices.

The document states the following upgrade path is supported:

  • 6.0(2)A8(7b) -> 7.0(3)I7(8)

Your particular device is running NX-OS software release 6.0(2)A7(2), so we need to upgrade to 6.0(2)A8(7b) first. Reviewing the Cisco Nexus 3548 Switch NX-OS Release Notes for Release 6.0(2)A7(2) document, there are no special intermediary steps needed to upgrade to 6.0(2)A8(7b).

As such, your final upgrade path will be as follows:

  • 6.0(2)A7(2) -> 6.0(2)A8(7b) -> 7.0(3)I7(8)

A few things to note:

  • Before you upgrade from NX-OS 6.0(2)A8(7b) to 7.0(3)I7(8), you need to invoke the NX-OS Compact Image Procedure via SCP on the NX-OS 7.0(3)I7(8) binary image file to reduce the file size of the binary image in order for the upgrade to be successful and supported. You can view more information about this process in the Nexus 3000, 3100, and 3500 NX-OS Compact Image Procedure document.
  •  After you upgrade to NX-OS 7.0(3)I7(8), you need to run the system setup script in order to re-apply the default CoPP policy to the device. You can do this with the setup command, keying in yes to enter the basic configuration dialog, and accepting all default options. This will not modify your existing configuration - the only change to the device will be that the new default CoPP policy will be applied to the device.

I hope this helps!
