Hello,
We're planning to upgrade 5548UP to new version. Currently it's 6.0(2)N2(4). I know i need to to make three upgrade path steps to do it correctly:
I see sometimes on upgrade process we're getting this default message: Module 1: Refreshing compact flash and upgrading bios/loader/bootrom/power-seq. Warning: please do not remove or power off the module at this time. Note: Power-seq upgrade needs a power-cycle to take into effect. Use command 'reload power-cycle' Note: Micro-controller upgrade needs a power-cycle to take into effect. On success of micro-controller upgrade, SWITCH OFF THE POWER to the system and then, power it up. SUCCESS
My question about that warning is about "SWITCH OFF THE POWER" meaning - isn't it would be enough to do reload power-cycle ? Would i really need to go into the DC and make a physical reload ? Thanks
Also, i google a message "Once you've upgraded to either NX-OS version 4.2(1)N1(1) or 5.0(2)N1(1) and above, and completed the power cycle, then the power sequencer will be the correct level. Any subsequent NX-OS upgrades will not require the power cycle." which says that if my version is already newer than 5.0(2)N1(1) i would not need to do a power cycle for power sequence update.
On the other hand i see the old log which had updated the power sequencer:
Images will be upgraded according to following table: Module Image Running-Version New-Version Upg-Required ------ ---------------- ---------------------- ---------------------- ------------ 1 system 7.0(2)N1(1) 7.0(7)N1(1) yes 1 kickstart 7.0(2)N1(1) 7.0(7)N1(1) yes 1 bios v3.6.0(05/09/2012) v3.6.0(05/09/2012) no 1 power-seq v2.0 v3.0 yes 1 SFP-uC v1.1.0.0 v1.0.0.0 no 2 power-seq v1.0 v1.0 no 3 power-seq v5.0 v5.0 no 100 fexth 7.0(2)N1(1) 7.0(7)N1(1) yes 101 fexth 7.0(2)N1(1) 7.0(7)N1(1) yes 102 fexth 7.0(2)N1(1) 7.0(7)N1(1) yes 1 microcontroller v1.2.0.1 v1.2.0.1 no
But as i understand from 5.x version the upgrade of power seq doesnt require physical reboot.
Do i'm right ? Thanks

Hi @from88
Any power seq upgrade only requires "reload power-cycle" command. On the other hand, micro controller upgrade required you to physically remove the power cable and put it back.
Cheers,
Sergiu
