Hi,
I am working on a contract, it to me is not a good design but i have to make it work,
I have one N7K at the core with multiple card,
2 ToRs nexus 9k
and esx servers with 2 data uplinks and only 1 ilo link
I have configured a Port channel on the 7k going south carrying all respective vlans
I have configured the 2 x ToRs as vPC peers with a vPC going north to the core and 1 for each server going south
The issue i have is the vlan for the ilo. Since this vlan has only one uplink to one of the ToRs i cannot place it in a vPC
so how do i get the ilo traffic to be sent north to the Core, i do see mac addresses for the vlans with dual uplinks from the esx servers but the ilo will not forward, I have configured the vlan on both ToRs when i look at the show consistency for the vpc it says the ilo vlan is suspended.
at the moment i am i n testing, the plan was to dual uplink the data links and put the ilo links from different servers across both ToRs to at least have the vlan active, i dont think this will solve the issue due to the mac not being seen where it would normally be seen in as it would be seen for the data vlans.
do i need to tell the ToRs the ilo ports are orphan ports to permit forwarding ?
Thanks in advance
