That´s easy. You just need to use Access List

If you have two switches and one Router, you dont  need subinterfaces and trunk

Connect the switches in different interfaces on the router, leave the interfaces in default vlan 1

Configure IP address on the routers interface accordingly.

Configure IP address on PCs accordingly. Use the routers IP address as Gateway for PC

Ping from one PC to the other

You Will need subinterfaces and trunk If you use only one switch and one router

Hi! I'm a student and I've been asked to do exactly this: Captura de pantalla 2024-12-14 231138.png

I've been racking my brain for three days now, because I have no idea how to do it. We're just starting to look at trunking mode and we've been told that we need to use trunking mode from the switch to the router so that VLAN 10 of the 192.168.10.0 network connects to VLAN 10 of the 192.168.11.0. The same with VLAN 20. But I can't get it. All the YouTube tutorials I've been able to find use subnets.

Now that I saw your topology I got. And yes, you need trunk and subinterface indeed.

If you need further help, attach your packettracer file here. Zip it first

I leave a zip with some screenshots with the configurations I have made. I really appreciate your help, because I'm totally lost on this. The problem I find is that after making the subnets, all the hosts communicate despite being in a VLAN. I just want VLAN 10 to communicate with the other VLAN 10, but it communicates with both 20 on its own network and 10 and 20 of the other network.

Just tested and every PC can ping each other. What is the problem?

Aren't those on VLAN 10 not supposed to ping VLAN 20?

Yes. But they are.

I can ping from any PC to any PC. Dont you?

That's the problem and i don't know how to solve it. Is there something wrong with the configuration? I just want vlan 100 to communicate with vlan 100 and vlan 200 with vlan 200. but I want vlan 100 and 200 not to be able to communicate.

That´s easy. You just need to use Access List

Thank you so much! I feel like you've given me a hundred years of life with this solution.
