Hello

What happent to the active recipient when upgrading Cisco ESA, will Cisco ESA keep the active recipient after upgrading, or Cisco ESA will delete the active recipient ?

It should keep it. Its mail in the mail queue...
BUT, you'd really rather have an EMPTY mail queue when you do an upgrade, just in case something goes wrong.

So you should start by suspending all receiving, then do the upgrade and reboot.

what do you mean by EMPTY mail queue? Is workqueue or Active Recipient ?

They're functionally the same...
Active recipients are who mail queue emails are going to.

I typically shut down listeners, set it for 60 seconds to wait for any current connections to complete. And then give it another couple of minutes for the ESA to deliver whatever it has out, and then start the upgrade.

how about email that still in active recipient because of bounce profile ? is the email will kept in the active recipient after the upgrade process?

If the mail is delivered... no. I think the reboot would clear "active recipients" if the mail has gone.
What is the issue you're trying to solve for?

I want to upgrade cisco esa and i want to make sure that email in active recipient is still there after the upgrade.

Thanks

If the mail gets delivered before the reboot, when it comes back up, any active recipients will be gone
(active recipients ~ mail in queue)

If the queue still has mail in it, it should still be there... but you really want that queue to be empty when you do an upgrade... hence suspend receiving so it can send everything it has.
