Cisco CES what is included in Office 365 Secure Email Inbound Essentials

Hi community,

I am researching for purchasing the essentials bundle for a client however I am puzzled about the CES deployment and the Office 365 Secure Email Inbound Essentials bundle (for a number of boxes 500). I know that ESA VM is the on prem option and CES is the cloud based. Does it have Sophos Anti-virus included?

I read that CES solution and the ESA VM are almost identical but according to this document CES is missing AV:

"The Secure Email Inbound Essentials bundle delivers protection against email-based threats and includes antispam, graymail detection, outbreak filters, and forged email detection."

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/security/cloud-email-security/datasheet-c78-742868.html?dtid=osscdc000283#Quantitybasedsubscriptionlicenses

I doubt it is not supported but it seems strange to not be included in the essentials bundle.

Also regarding high-availability I was not able to confirm whether this bundle includes 2 CES devices in Cisco cloud and 2 addresses to be added as MX records. The admin guide User Guide for AsyncOS 13.5.1 for Cisco Cloud Email Security seems not to be specifically for the cloud deployment.

Any advise and help is appreciated.

Regards,

Emil

Hello Emil,

you can check on what the O365 bundle includes in the official ordering guide
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/security/email-security/guide-c07-736692.html

long story short: Note: It does not contain traditional antivirus because that is a built-in feature of O365.

you can also find more information about CES here: https://docs.ces.cisco.com/docs/ces-reference-docs

all CES customer get at least 2 ESA and 1 SMA appliance, depending on the user base Cisco will deploy more/bigger appliances.

let me know if you have fruther questions.

regards

daniel
