ESA capacity planning

On a daily basis, our ESA C670 is filtering 13k incoming mails / 120k for outgoing with an average of 3-4k mails per hour.

 

Recently, i was tasked to add an additional SMTP server that will be sending out campaigns/notifications to clients, the projected number of mails will be 200k mails (10kb) each. This number will add on top of our our outgoing mails.

 

Id like to get some pointers how to determine or compute for the utilization percentage of this additional requirement and how much of an impact it can add on the system performance.

As per i know we need to continously monitor the system as we increasing the load gradually. that give base line when we increase the user capacity and compare with base line and see is this good enough head room for this kit to handle the traffic. if not we need add more ESA to load balance to resolve the issue.
