Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

The e-mail system was unable to deliver the message, but did not report a specific reason. Check the address and try again. If it still fails, contact your system administrator.

<#5.0.0 smtp; 5.x.3 - PXE Encryption failure. (This message is larger than the maximum allowed message size for PXE encryption.) (delivery attempts: 0)>

Where can we set a larger size, I believe the user is sending a 12 MB file

Hello Greg,

the encryption size is limized to 10MB maximum, this is a fixed value and cannot be configured. Reason for this is that a large envelope will take a lot of time at the end users browser to get decrypted, using javascript or java.

Regards,

Andreas

Was this ever increased? We have a user who tried to send an 18MB file and is getting the same error.

Yes, this was increased starting in version 8.0.1. See Chapter 16 of the AsyncOS for Email Users Guide, version 8.0.1, page 16-4 for more information. (Newer guides may have the chapter changed, so check the TOC.)

Short version: "Check Security Services" > "IronPort Email Encryption" settings and you'll find the option to bump it up to a max of 25MB.

BEWARE: You can encrypt large messages this way but the recipient system may still have a limit on message size that they allow inbound on their end.
