How IE5000 implement Dual-Active Detection?

Hi guys:

I have a problem. Do you know how the IE5000 equipment implements the Dual-Active Detection in Horizontal Stacking?

I have two IE-5000-12S12P-10G in horizontal stack mode. Thanks

the implementation of horizontal stacking is not the same as VSS implemented on Catalyst 9K chassis.

horizontal stacking is very similar to stackwise stacking technology.

dual active detection is not supported.

IE5000 implements Dual-Active Detection (DAD) through a heartbeat mechanism that enables the detection of two active supervisors in a redundant configuration. The heartbeat messages are exchanged between the active and standby supervisors to monitor their operational status. If the heartbeat messages are not received within a specified interval, the standby supervisor will assume the active role and take over the system's control.

For example, Dual-Active Detection in IE5000 can be compared to the game Car Parking Multiplayer, where two players act as supervisors of a car parking lot. They exchange signals to determine who is the active supervisor, and if one player fails to respond within a specified time, the other player takes over the role to control the parking lot.

Similarly, in IE5000, if the standby supervisor does not receive a heartbeat signal from the active supervisor, it will assume the active role and take over the system's control to prevent any service disruption. This mechanism ensures continuous and uninterrupted service delivery in redundant configurations.

Regarding your question about the IE5000 equipment and its implementation of Dual-Active Detection in Horizontal Stacking, the process involves ensuring redundancy and efficient failover in a stacked configuration. In a horizontal stack mode with two IE-5000-12S12P-10G devices, the Dual-Active Detection mechanism is designed to identify the active and standby units.

The devices utilize a protocol to communicate and determine the operational status of each unit within the stack. This helps in swiftly detecting any failures or changes in the network topology. For detailed and device-specific information, I recommend checking the official documentation or contacting the support team of the equipment.P.S.
