Hi guys, ran into a bit of an issue last night. I have a 2901 running CME supporting about 30 phones. I loaded up the new 15.2 ios version and rebooted the router. When it came back up everything was looking find until the phones begain to try and register. All I was getting was a LONG list of Phone-Reg-Rej messages on the console. The full message is
Aug 25 01:51:47.000: %IPPHONE-6-REG_ALARM: 24: Name=SEP001B535C7EAD Load=8.1(2.0) Last=Phone-Reg-Rej
I looked at it for a couple of hours last night but could not find the issue so in the end I rolled back to 15.1 and had no issues. Has anyone seen this issue before? Or maybe have any advice on what to look for in the config that could be causing the issues? All the phones are 7940g's and 7960g's.

Hi,
I think you can fix that issue (sounds like a bug) trying one of this:
1.- Under telephony-service, do "no max-ephone" and then "max-ephone
2.- Backup config, do "no telephony-service" and configure it again.
3.- Apply the "license accept end user agreement" command in global configuration mode.
Hope it helps, please rate if it does.
Kind regards,
- Adrian.

Hi Michael,
I think you should stick with the the Cisco recoomed specs for your CME version
Please see this link

Well, I am running a full upgrade, CME and IOS all at once, to get up to 8.8 and 15.2. Would love to just stay on the version I am at, but I have a requirement to run EM with the Cisco Mobile client for iPhone, so I have got to upgrade to get that feature as I am currently on CME 8.0 and IOS 15.0

Michael,
Can you check what firmware version a failing 7940 or 60 is using at present

That was it! Just had to drop the max-ephones and add it back, accept the EULA and off we go. How strange of an issue. Would have never throught to try that.
Thanks for the help!

Hi Guys, thanks for the input... Adrian, I will give your suggestions a try this evening and see if I get anywhere.
Alex, the phones are running the 8.1(2.0) firmware, as far as I can tell, still the recomended version for CME 8.x
Also, I tried the ios build with the 8.6 CME software with the same results... so far, I can only get the phones to register with the version I am running (CME 8.1) or older, nothing newer...

Michael,
I thought the issue may have been older F/W but you are running the latest 8.1.2
I did have an issue a couple of week ago where I was seeing the alarm
%IPPHONE-6-REG_ALARM: 24: Name=SEP001B535C7EAD Load=8.1(2.0) Last=Phone-Reg-Rej
This was caused by the license files being missing from a new install, but as yours is an upgrade I did not
think the Lic would be an issue
I hope your upgrade goes well with Adrian's fix.
Regards
Alex
