Most use a 4 digit dial-pattern for enteral extensions. Is it possible to use a 3 digit dial-pattern?

Do not want to be rude, but the question is a little vague..... you need to supply a little more info.
For example :Current Dial Plan ( If only most users use 4 then something else is also used..... what?)
What are you trying to accomplish?
What is the requirement?

Actually I was just thinking out loud. Say a small company with 50 or so employees was to migrate over to VOIP. Why not just use a 3 digit dial plan? Instead of using the standard 4 digit plan?

You can use whatever you want. Your pool will not be as large as it would if you used 4 digits, but for 50 people it is not critical. It just need to get translated into the form that your provider is expecting/allows.
