How would you rate the reliability of 3rd Party SIP Phones with Call Manager? Has anyone tried any call boxes with it? If so, what was your experience with them?

We use 3rd party F/OSS SIP softphones with Call Manager and they work perfectly. We're also using Polycom 401, 501, 430 and Snom SIP phones with perfect reliability. There are obviously some drawbacks regarding Cisco feature availability on 3rd party phones, but to us the cost and reliability far offset any lack of features.

We have a couple SIP Phones that we are trying out. One thing that I noticed is that in the GUI for these, there is only room for 1 Call Manager to go. Therefore if you fail over to the Secondary CallManager, you would lose these phones.
Has anyone else seen this? Does anyone have a workaround?
