7985 handset issue

Hello All ,

i have 2 ip phones 7985 (with camera) regiesterd with ccm8.6

the handset of the first one was working fine but the other not working

i swapped the handset between the 2 phones ,

now none of the handset is working even after swapping them again ,, it seems a bug

i restarted and reset the phones to factory defults but no luck

plz advice

Hi Ahmed,

Can u try changing the cord connecting Handset and Base of the phonewith another working phone?

you need to try these permutations to reachthe conclusion.

there is a bug for 7941 IP phones

CP-HANDSET-CORD= malfunctioned on 7941G
Symptom:
Loss of sound in handset.

Conditions:
CP-7941G on any type of IP phone call.

Workaround:
Swap out the CP-HANDSET-CORD=.

i tried it before with no luck , yes same symptom of this bug plus the line doesnt open when you go off-hook !!

as the handset not connected at all !

and the last firmware of this phone on cisco in 2008 !

Hi Guys,

If someone have this fault, Solution: First confirm that the magnet does exists in the cradle where the handset sits. If it does then then It is the reed switch magnet sensor inside the phone. Either it is becoming lazy or needs replacement. Get a magnet and pass it several times over the keypad (Voice mail LED) near where you place the handset and listen to the switch inside clicking. Then give it a try by placing the handset on hook and off hook to see if it works. You may notice a slight delay in taking action.
