Hi Cisco Community,
We have an issue here where most of our 8831 models are showing
Inactive Load Failure Reason | Internal Phone Error |
- Our Infosec department alerted us of a vulnerability with these 8831 devices that is patched up by upgrading to 10.3(1)SR5. I downloaded the files and uploaded to TFTP File Management and restarted that service. Phones are still not taking the updated firmware. I'd really like to get this taken care of sooner than later. Any idea's or help would be appreciated.

What is the exact name of the file you downloaded from cisco.com?
and what is your current FW?

I downloaded the 8831 Firmware Files Only (North America) cmterm-8831-sip. 10-3-1SR5-1-NA.zip.
Current firmware Active Load ID is different for many of the devices. Some are on 9-3-3-5 and requesting 10-3-1SR2-2 but failing. I'd say about 7 or 8 are experiencing that. Others have the AL ID as sip8831.10-3-1SR2-2 with a download status of none. It's weird because all the phones seem to work, but all on different FW. The majority do have the Inactive Load Failure Reason Internal Phone Error. Hopefully this helps.

Did you review the RNs from the FW and the special load you need to use if upgrading from 9.3.3 to 10.3.1??
