8832 Firmware Upgrade No CUCM

My 8832 will not upgrade

I can't seem to upgrade the firmware on a new 8832. I'm running tftpd32 and pointing to a folder on my desktop. It's currently running 8832.12-5-1-16 and I am trying to upgrade to 8832.12-5-1SR3-74. I am able to upgrade 88xx phones and suspect my loadinformation line in my default XML file could be the culprit, however, no where have I been able to find an example of a XMLDefault file with the 8832 configured. I've searched Cisco, youtube and google all to no avail. Anyone who could point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Much appreciated,

The "loadinfo" file only applies to phone running 8.X and earlier.

Any phone that runs on 9.X (and later) does not need this file.

To specify what firmware the phone needs to load, look in the SEPmacaddress.cnf.xml file under the tag "<loadinformation>".

Thanks for the answer. We upgrade the firmware prior to shipping in a Staging environment. We are using the default XML file to do the firmware upgrade using TFTPD32 and a firmware image on our PC tied to a switch so we can upgrade multiple phones at once. Unless I have totally missed it, I have not found a reference anywhere on the phone or in Cisco documentation indicating the load information number. We recently added these to phones to our offerings and have 100's of them requiring customer specific firmware changes.

After extensive searching, we have identified a LoadInformation number that works for upgrading the 8832, but, have muddied the water further by finding we have to use two different LoadInformation numbers while upgrading and downgrading 8811's. If these numbers are assigned, where are they in the documentation? Is the diff LI # on the 8811 a bug? or does older firmware require a diff number?

To further the frustration, because these phones have not yet been activated with a contract, TAC won't discuss it. Does anyone else do these firmware upgrades offline? If there is a way to discover the LoadInformation number via the phone, I could use a little more direction in the method. Again thanks for the help...
