Hi everyone,
How much power should a 9951 want to draw while idle?
We're running in to an issue with the quantity of 9951s running off our switches and the switches running out of power to allocate. Obviously during boot up the 9951 wants the full amount of PoE allocated to it, but I was expecting that when idle the actual power draw would decrease significantly but is only decreasing by a couple of watts.
Currently, our 9951 with video camera enabled but screen turned off is drawing 13.5 watts. Are there some ideas on decreasing this usage? Using energywise to put them in a deep sleep that they unregister won't work, these staff obviously expect calls during the day.
The switches used are WS-C3750V2-48PS switches running 12.2(50)SE5.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Anand,
Thanks for that. Using the power save plus/deep sleep option with energy wise isn't an option, these phones need to be able to receive calls.
Will using energy wise without the power save plus configuration still reduce the power draw? If so, will the POE budgeting be completed based on actual power usage or still use the theoritical maximum as reported by CDP?
Thanks,
Mark
