Abbreviated dialing with # numbers

Hi,

I want to implement a list of abbreviated dials on CUCM;

eg:

1138  901234567890

1139  909876543210

etc.  Essentially, speed dials to mobile phones, using 4 digits.

I have tried creating a translation pattern, though not sure I'm on the right track?  Transformation mask of the whole number doesnt work.

After this, I want to also set up # numbers alongside these.  So, from the example above, calling #6138 would call 1138 and then translate to

901234567890  *notice I also want to strip the first 1, to confirm with our current PSTN environment.  I have created a route pattern;

#6.XXX / Discard Digits: Predot / Called Party Transform Mask:1XXX

Many thanks!

Steve

Yes, you're on the right track, but you do not send the call to the RPs until you've done all the changes you want with translation patterns.

I don't see the need to change it twice if you know what it's going to end up looking like, why change #6138 to 1138?? and then to 901234567890, if you already know what's the final number??

Hi Steve,

I am just trying to think in another way. Would that be possible for your environment to create the Dummy CTI route point and forward the calls to the Desired number.

Like :  Speed dial on the Phone is 1138 ---- > CTI Route point 1138 ---- Forward all to 901234567890 (This to be complete number which matches the correct RP to dial out)

Translation pattern is the way to go, make sure the TP has proper CSS assigned to it that can reach the normal route pattern for these PSTN numbers.

HTH,

Chris

Thanks all.  I'd like to stick to just individual translation  patterns if I can for each number.  Can I not just create a normal  called party transformation?  See attached screenshot...

Regarding the #6 bit, I am in a situation of a hybrid  Siemens PABX and Cisco environment.  The current PABX environment uses  #6XXXX which then strips the first digit and the last 3 forms the speed  dial (I am told to facilitate expansion).  SO I want to ensure this is  like-for-like, so #61111 would call a certain mobile number which I  would programme in the form of a transformation pattern?

Many thanks to all for your posts.......

Steve

This is called Party transformation pattern, you need to build translation pattern.

Chris

Apologies, some confusion here.  Translation patterns are what I need.

I have successfully created a translation pattern and now in a position to import many.

I have tried to import them using the BAT tool - I have seen elsewhere that you import them as Intercoms?  This won't work (TRANSLATION PATTERN is not a supported field).

Where do you import translation patterns?  I have a csv and also created a TAR version.  Imported the file.  Not sure which option it comes under to add them?  There's no translation pattern option.

Thanks,

Steve
