i am deploying CME 8.6. I have followed all the steps recommended by cisco to change the background image for cisco 7975G.

i have created the directory as Desktops/320x216x16 and using a .png file with 320x216 and 80x53. All the files have been uploaded and tftp binding has been done, but when i go to image background menu there thumbnail image is completly white and when i select it it becomes all blue. Can any body help me to fix this issue. Thanks in  Advance.

And you have created a List.xml file within the directory?

Without any configuration and files it is difficult to locate the problem.

Did you verify, that the phone downloads the files? (Using tftp debug)

First of all thank you for your response.

LIST.XML is as

URL="TFTP:Desktops/320x216x16/logo1.png"/>

URL="TFTP:Desktops/320x216x16/CampusNight.png"/>

and tftp binding is as

CME−CUE(config)#tftp−server flash:Desktops/320x216x16/TN−logo1.png

CME−CUE(config)#tftp−server flash:Desktops/320x216x16/logo1.png

CME−CUE(config)#tftp−server flash:Desktops/320x216x16/List.xml

CME−CUE(config)#tftp−server flash:Desktops/320x216x16/TN−CampusNight.png

CME−CUE(config)#tftp−server flash:Desktops/320x216x16/CampusNight.png

no i didnot verify this from debug tftp

should i use 80x54 for thunbnail image

You also have the Cisco background image available.

Do you have the same Problem with this Image?

Does the phone show 3 background images (1 system default, 2 from tftp-server)?

Again thanks

the default cisco logo is already there and now there are three options but second and third one is blank. When i select the second image, phone background turn all blue and when i select third it said that image not found because third image's resolution is 320x212, Now suggest me what to do?

Obviously the List.xml files can be downloaded.

The format of the list.xml looks good.

I think the png-images might be the problem.

1) there is a problem with the file

I normally use gimp to create this images and never had this kind of problem.

Maybe you try it with gimp and then save as png file-

2) the files are not getting downloaded.

Check the tftp debug on your ccme!

ok Thank you

now tomorrow i will try this with your suggested software. Tell me what should be the resolution for images for 7975G.

320x216 and 80x54 or 320x216 and 80x53?

and if the files are not downloaded then?

You can find this information in the administration guide:

The PNG files for background images must meet the following requirements for proper display on the Cisco Unified IP Phone:

Full size image—320 pixels (width) X 216 pixels (height).

Thumbnail image—80 pixels (width) X 53 pixels (height).

Color palette—Includes up to 16-bit color (65535 colors). You can use more than 16-bit color, but the phone will reduce the color palette to 16-bit before displaying the image. For best results, reduce the color palette of an image to 16-bit when you create a PNG file.

well bernard!

phone is not downloading the image from cme

do i need to upgrade the phone firmware?

Hi,

you need to add alias command to the tftp server, kindly find the below config for List.xml and tftp files

LIST.XML is as

tftp-server flash:/Desktops/320x216x16/TN−logo1.png alias Desktops/320x216x16/TN−logo1.png

tftp-server flash:/Desktops/320x216x16/logo1.png alias Desktops/320x216x16/logo1.png

tftp-server flash:/Desktops/320x216x16/List.xml alias Desktops/320x216x16/List.xml

tftp-server flash:/Desktops/320x216x16/TN−CampusNight.png alias Desktops/320x216x16/TN−CampusNight.png

tftp-server flash:/Desktops/320x216x16/CampusNight.png alias Desktops/320x216x16/CampusNight.png
