Cisco 7936 can't connect to TFTP

I have several of the Cisco 7936 conference phones that were purchased about 7 years ago and were held as spares in the event that one of our others failed.  Back then we were running CallManager 4.2 and the 7936's in the field were upgraded as we upgraded CallManager.

We are now running CUCM 9.0(2) and I recently needed to replace a failed 7936.  What I discovered was that the spares were all running firmware 3.3(2) and they will not connect to the TFTP servers in my cluster (appreas to be Bug ID CSCti37753).  The phones will still register alright but do not function properly and I can not upgrade the firmware or software.

I have seen TIDs that say to upgrade before upgrading CM but I am too late for that.  I also saw a post in an archive that indicated there was a work around to this from a technician at Cisco but it did not give the particulars.

Is there a method I can use to get the phones upgraded to the newer firmware?

Hi Gene,

You can try this method to upgrade the firmware:  https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-23730
