Cisco 7962 - Use from Home

We are currently running Call Manager 10.5, and most of our phones are 7962's. We have a need to have these be used from a home or other remote location not on our network.

I see that these phones have settings to connect via VPN, but I'm hoping someone with experience can comment on this. Any advice on how to get this working effectively?

Would putting in an ASA 5505 or 5506 and create a site-to-site be a more effective solution?

Thanks in advance for any insight!

The CUCM security guide has all the info about phone VPN feature, bear in mind you need to provision and let them connect the first time on-prem, then you can ship them to wherever you want.

If that's not an option, then you need to look into creating a VPN connection with a small router and then plug the phone there.

Thanks that puts me into the right direction, and the phones can definitely/will definitely be loaded onsite initially.

I am also looking at doing a site-to-site, so glad to know these are all options.
