Hi!
What Avaya do you have? session manager?
Avaya normaly work with 3-party SIP phones, but as simple SIP phone, without andvanced features (AST devices).
Avaya can work with SIP over TCP/UDP/and TLS, check it on Your Avaya
Make sip profile and try to register (in Avaya You must make user)
In Session Manage You can use traseSM tool for debug SIP.
Let me know if You need any assist
