We have several staff that have 88xx series phones at home. These are wired into their home routers, plugged into power, connect over MRA into Expressway and work fine. Of course one of our VP's has a home office on the other side of the house from his router. No cabling in the room so he can't wire his physical phone to the router. Looked at the possibility of a wireless Cisco phone like an 8861 / 8865 at his home. But it looks like they're only supported on Cisco AP's? Can't i just wifi this sucker to his home network? Clearly this isn't a very secure option, but if we help secure his home wifi network then the calls should be encrypted through Expressway.
Anyone know if this can work with standard wifi? Or does it have to be a supported Cisco AP solution?

I see no reason for why it wouldn’t work with other WiFi equipment. Check this document out for how to connect the phone with WiFi. https://support.8x8.com/equipment-devices/phones/cisco/how-to-connect-cisco-ip-phone-8861-to-wireless-network
