I have IP phone CP-8961 and firmware cmterm-8961.9-4-2SR4-1_REL.

I configured ntp server in SEP...cnf.xml

 <ntps>
<ntp>
<name>pool.ntp.org</name>
<ntpMode>Unicast</ntpMode>
</ntp>
</ntps>
 but seems it never try to resolve time. (I found same problem in other phone model on forum).

It's a bug or there is a way to get it working?

point the ntp server to the SIP server.

Hi.

Just tried, sep updated, rebooted device, but date is still 1/1/1982...

Oh wait ... update the firmware of the phone.

I'm already on last firmware sip8961.9-4-2SR4-1.

Tried sip8961.9-3-2-10 and sip8961.9-3-4-24 too but same result.

Post the config which includes the olsonTimeZone, dateTemplate

       <dateTimeSetting>
          <dateTemplate>D/M/YY</dateTemplate>
          <timeZone>Jerusalem Standard/Daylight Time</timeZone>
          <ntps>
             <ntp>
                <name>185.23.174.10</name>
                <ntpMode>Unicast</ntpMode>
             </ntp>
          </ntps>
       </dateTimeSetting>

I found here https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCul33490 that it's not bug and will not be fixed.

I using my cisco phone directly with VSP without Callmanager. In this case i'll stuck with 1/1/82 date forever (after reboots of course)?

Symptom:
8961, 9951, and 9971 phones will not use the phone NTP reference as configured for getting their time.
Conditions:
Firmware versions 9.1(1) and later will not synchronize their time with an external NTP server. The ability to use an NTP reference for time has been turned off on 89XX and 99XX phones.

Hold on ... I call bullsh!t on this.

I have a friend who's got a 9971 and running Asterisk.  I helped him set this phone up and it is running NTP.  Firmware version is 9.4(2)SR2.

His phone points to his DSL router as NTP source.

Strange...

I found in log: NTP: ->>> varOff is 0

Seems like disabled functionality as in bug description..

There is a way to update configs files in device file system (via ssh)?

Did you ever discover a workaround that works for non-CUCM 8961 users?

What firmware is the phone running on?

I have the same phone with the exact same issue.

Current installed version: 9.4(2)SR4 (newest from 06-Dec-2017)

The last "update date" under phone information shows the correct update time (05/17/19). That was the last time the time worked correctly. Since then the time always resets to 12/31/1981 after every restart. The dateTimeSetting are set correctly in my SEP....cnf.xml file.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Update:

A downgrade to version 9.0.x fixed the issue!

Hey, I am currently facing the same problem. I was however unable to find version 9.0.x. It's not available for download anywhere. Cisco only has the lastest version for download, which has the problem.

Is there any way you can provide me with the firmware files?

Thanks in advance
