Cisco Expressway and MRA: some questions

Hello,

we have some questions/doubts about Cisco Expressway and MRA:

  • Is it possible to integrate 1 Expressway cluster to 2 different CUCM clusters?
  • Does the Expressway supports the Cisco 6900 and 7900 series IP Phones for MRA?
  • Do the Expressway-C nodes have to be in the same VLAN/subnet of the CUCM nodes, or can it be in a separated VLAN/subnet?

TIA ands regards.

Yes

No

As long as they can reach each other, it doesn't matter

Hello Jaime,

could you provide us some links to the official documentation for the various questions, please?

Thanks and regards.

The MRA configuration guide has the deployment models and the support for endpoints, that's the doc that has all the info, it's available under the VCS documentation on cisco.com

Hello Jaime,

OK, I've found all the answers in the Mobile and Remote Access via Cisco Expressway Deployment Guide (X8.8):

http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/expressway/config_guide/X8-8/Mobile-Remote-Access-via-Expressway-Deployment-Guide-X8-8.pdf

I've only another doubt: is CAD for CUCCX 10.x (installed on a PC on-premises or VPN) working if the associated phone is connected in MRA?

From this sentence on the document above, it should seem so:

"Jabber SDK, Jabber for Mac, and Jabber for Windows are not capable of deskphone control when they are connected over MRA, because the CTI-QBE protocol is not traversed by the Expressway pair. When these Jabber applications, or other CTI applications, can connect to CUCM CTIManager (on-premises or VPN) then they can deskphone control endpoints and clients that are connected over MRA"

The sentence doesn't explicitly mention the CAD among the CTI applications, but it should work, is it right?

The better thing could be a document that explicitly mentions this scenario... Does it exist?

Thanks again and regards.
