Hi, I have a Cisco IP Phone 7942 and after hard reset (3491672850*#) its only sending LLDP/CDP packets to the network instead of DHCP requests. I can see this using wireshark:
33 28.910209 Cisco_96:89:37 LLDP_Multicast LLDP 117 TTL = 180 System Name = SEPC4143C968937 System Description = Cisco IP Phone 7942G,V15, 34 28.926953 Cisco_96:89:37 CDP/VTP/DTP/PAgP/UDLD LLC 122 U, func=UI; SNAP, OUI 0x00000C (Cisco Systems, Inc), PID 0x0128
71 88.908528 Cisco_96:89:37 CDP/VTP/DTP/PAgP/UDLD CDP 112 Device ID: SEPC4143C968937 Port ID: Port 2
I am using Tftpd32 and its working fine for other devices.
We should see DHCP msg like:
11568 6418.295138 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.255 DHCP 385 DHCP Request - Transaction ID 0xc82af01e
So, my DHCP and TFTP server are working fine. Any suggestions?
Thank you
ADDED:
I found this information below: (https://oneview.mitel.com/s/article/Factory-Reset)
Alternate Option:
1. Hold # while you plug it in.
2. When the line indicator buttons illuminate in sequence, release the # button and press 3491672850*# in order.
3. The line indicator buttons will illuminate "red" and the phone will go through a series of reboots.
4. This process can take a very long time (sometimes overnight).
5. When complete, the phone will have been reset to factory defaults.
So, is this true? (4. This process can take a very long time (sometimes overnight).) ???????? without any firmware downloaded from tftp?
