Cisco IP Phone 7961G not allocate IP address from DHCP

Hi All,

I need some help here regarding a 7961G IP phone.

I tried to convert the phone from SCCP to SIP.

However, when I factory reset the phone, the phone kept sending request to the DHCP server. When DHCP server proposed an IP address to it, the phone just did not allocate this IP address to itself. And kept sending DHCP request.

Does anybody have an idea?

I tried to put the phone on a VLAN with DHCP server.

I also tried to connect the phone directly to a POE switch that only has my PC connected with TFTP64 running both DHCP and TFTP server.

But I can only see the phone kept sending the DHCP request and nothing else.

Please help!

Best Regards,

Jackie

Is DHCP Option 150 enabled?

Yes. I tried both option 150 and 66.

Issue remained.

If you to go phone settings > network configuration > ipv4, do you see the
phone acquiring the IP.

also, what is the status messages displayed on the phone.

Enable debug tftp events on DHCP server and see if any tftp events being
received

The phone was factory reset. So it's only display "Upgrading" and MAC address of the phone.

Do you have the image correctly on tftp server. Disable windows firewall
for tftp64 to work.

Yes. I've disabled the Windows firewall and had the image on the TFTP server.

Eventually, it is the IP address that stopped the process.

I can see the DHCP server on TFTP64 received the DHCP request from the handset and proposed an IP address to the handset. Normally the handset should allocate the IP address to itself and then start retrieving image from the TFTP server.

However, the handset just kept sending DHCP request but not allocate the IP address that DHCP server proposed to it...

So wired...

I'm using TFTP64. Couldn't find any Debug options.
