Has anyone experienced these phones only working on speaker phone? I have had at least 3 phones do this.

@woodard-gerald what type of question is this? What exactly you want to ask?

It should work with out the speaker turned on @woodard-gerald. You will need to check settings on the device as well as in CUCM to verify there aren't any settings that are disabling the option to turn off the speaker. Here's a link to the admin guide for the phone that might help. You can also check the Help links in CUCM when working on that device to check various settings.

If this doesn't solve your problem, you can open a TAC case to get support.

@woodard-gerald The Cisco 840 wireless phone may only work on speakerphone due to a faulty earpiece speaker, incorrect audio settings, or a software issue. Check if the volume is turned up, test with a different headset if one is connected, and restart the phone. If the issue persists, a firmware update or hardware repair may be needed.

We have several 840 phones and don't have any issues with them only working with the speaker @woodard-gerald.
