cmterm-devicepack9.1.2.12039-1.cop and 7941 telephones

Symptom:

cannot transfer calls from 7941 and 7942

we recently loaded the cmterm-devicepack9.1.2.12039-1.cop on our Call Manager version: 9.1.2.10000-28 for DX80 support.

older model 7941 and 7942 model telephones are subject to the bug listed below when a reboot occurs:

https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCun26289/?reffering_site=dumpcr

the workaround is to roll back to the older version of firmware.

In our case from the version that installed with the device pack:

SCCp41.9-3-1SR4-1S

back to version:

SCCp41.9-3-1SR2-1S

cmterm-devicepack 9.1.2.12039-1.cop

You could upgrade the firmware only for these model phones to 9.4(2) or latest separately as mentioned in the defect. This has nothing to do with the device pack.

Hi Rajan- thank you

The issue became that that particular cop file contained that version of firmware for the phones and replaced the default value with it.    The release notes say that it supports this level of firmware however it does not tell you it installs it .   We didn't want to upgrade and the code included was buggy

If you do not want the phone firmware t be upgraded after device pack install do the following:

Copy the exact firmware name in device defaults before installing device pack

After installing the devicepack, restore the same value so that the particular phone models do not get upgraded.

Thank, yes.  That was what I did exactly.  It was  The surprise of the device defaults getting changed were the gotcha here.  We live and learn.   Thank you do much.
