I have 1 editor and 4 subscribers

I have CUCM GROUPS created with the four subscribers and I want to test the contingency, down two of the Subscribers and pass the phones to the backup subscribers.

My question is whether it is necessary to down the editor also in my contingency test. Will i have a problem?

The other question is whether under the editor I will not be able to register any new IP phone during this period.

There is one publisher and then subscribers, there is no such term as "editor" when it comes to the roles of the servers.

You can test redundancy with, or without the PUB, if there's no PUB, there is no ability to do any changes via GUI.

I'd strongly recommend you read the call control chapter from the SRND.
