Customised background on 8841/8851 MPP phones

Anyone now what is the correct TFTP format to upload a customised background photo on 8841/8851 MPP phones using the control hub?

Hello @Michalis Papasavva,

your images must be in PNG format and the full sized image must be within the following dimensions for the 8800 series phones:

• Thumbnail images — 139 pixels (width) by 109 pixels (height)
• Background images — 800 pixels by 480 pixels

If you want the user to be able to select your image from various wallpapers available on the phone, then you also need to modify the List.xml file. This is not needed if you want to push the image to the phone using a Common Phone Profile.

Then upload the images, the thumbnails, and - if needed - the List.xml file to your TFTP server to the following directory:

• Desktops/800x480x24

Finally, once the files are uploaded, you need to restart the TFTP server(s).

Hi Jens,

I believe you descripted the procedure for phones registered on CUCM, i am asking how to do it on a phone registered on control hub. (webex calling)

Hi Michalis,

sorry, I am still used to do this on CUCM but on Webex Control Hub it's even easier:

• Prepare the background image, either PNG or JPEG, size 800 x 480 pixels with a max. size of 625 KB
• Place the image on a reachable TFTP server
• Login to Control Hub, go to Devices and select the target phone(s)
• Under Device Settings look for the Background Image option and select Custom Background
• Enter the full Custom Background URL pointing to your image file, e.g. tftp://<server-ip>/background.png
• Apply the settings and reboot the phone to fetch and display the new background
