Device activation is forbidden on Model #7841

My company just purchased/made the arrangements to upgrade to webex for our phone system stuff, and they want me to learn it and be the “master” of it so to speak.

I admittedly have had easy times with phone systems so far in my career, but in no way am I afraid of the challenge that’s been dumped on my desk

Basically im trying to test this out on one user, I got his name and user account activated within webex, as far as I can see, that’s all good and fine

I had to factory reset the 7841 phone itself in order to use it, however , after typing in the activation code to activate the phone, I get the error “Device activation is forbidden”

This seems like a fairly solvable problem, but for the life of me cannot find how to fix this, I’ve been looking stuff up for a couple hours at this point thought I’d try Reddit lol

Thanks for your time and for reading this

Unless you bought new IP Phones with the MPP/3PCC SKU you have to migrate firmware from Enterprise used by CUCM Enterprise firmware to MPP used by WxC-MT.

Just in case someone else runs into this problem, make sure you are trying to add the correct model of phone.  I chased my tail thinking the one I was trying to add was a 7821, when it was a 7841 instead.  I received the same error message.  Hope this helps someone else!
