On CUCM In Call Routing -> Dial Rules there are three options. Application Dial Rules,Directory Rules and SIP dial rules. Apart from IPMA. Does anyone have example scenarios where this is used? I am struggling to see where this is going to help.

Hi
SIP Dial rule
For Cisco SIP IP Phone 7940 and 7960 use the 7940_7960_OTHER dial rules patterns and do not support KPML. If you don't configure a SIP dial plan for these phones, the user must press the Dial softkey or wait a specified time before digits are sent to Cisco CallManager for processing. By applying the SIP dial rule we don't have to press the DIal softkey, the calls gets processed without the Dial softkey or waiting for the interdigit timer
Thanks
