CDR is plain Call Detail Records which can be used by other systems.
CAR is when the info has already been processed and is the source of info for the Cisco CAR reports.

Ok. That means CDR is raw format i.e the one that we export from call manager which is in txt format. The cdr is further refined to form CAR which is used for generating different reports in pdf or excel.

Yes, that's correct. CDR DB info is what the plain files that CUCM generates after each call contain. It can be used by 3rd party programs which then process the info for enhanced reporting.
CAR is the CDR info processed to be used with the CAR tool.
